Interesting things at the zoo!

I was at the zoo a few weeks ago with my friend Kim, when all of a sudden we saw a lady who must have been trying to fit in with the Peacocks!!!!! My pictures aren't that good because I didn't want to be TOO obvious (although I think her daughter knew what me and Kim were doing). I have two pictures of her and Kim has one posted on her account here. I know I shouldn't make fun of people.....it's not nice! I will say she was a pretty lady, but sometimes I just don't understand the whole "Utah" hair thing. They think it is still the 80's out here. And those of you who have ever lived/visited here know what I'm talking about. I just don't get it, look how high her hair is in the blurry picture!

Sorry the pictures aren't that great, but hopefully you get the idea! The other thing I have to comment on is another day when I was leaving the zoo, I saw this:

The mother and father were both unloading the stroller and an infant while the father had put (I'm guessing at the ages) this two and three year old on the top of their SUV to wait for them. I was scared to death that one of them was going to fall/jump off the top! It's another bad picture, but I had to take it over my shoulder without looking! This mother also had like four nasty huge hickies (sp?) on her neck. If we were in the south, I would have called them a bunch of hicks! Get it.....the hicks with the hickies!!! LOL Gosh I'm funny............Just kidding!!!

Oh I almost forgot! While we were at the zoo the giraffes were getting a little frisky!!!! There were several schools there on field trips! Me and my friend Jen were the "mature grown-ups" standing there laughing our heads off!!! Thank goodness our kids were too young to understand what was going on and too young to ask questions! :)

Maybe the parents thought the kids were better off on top of the car than in the parking lot. Who knows? Parents do kookie things some times. Looks like y'all had a good time at the zoo. I'm jealous, again.

She just wanted to stand out among the animals! She knew better. There's a waitress that is older than the rest at Longhorns and she has her hair teased up in a huge afro. It looks hidous (sp?)on an old white woman and she has got to know it.

I can't wait to take the girls to the zoo this year. I think I'll call Amanda to go with us.

What clever parents to put the kids on the top of the car! Good thinkin. But doing that down here would cause a fanny fryin. Our cars get to hot and then that would just be wrong.

Do y'all really think that was a good idea because I feel like the littlest one was way to young to just be left on the top of the car! Who knows......maybe I'm just an overprotective mother......which I know I am, but I would never had done that with kids that small! But then again. It did seem to work for this family, just wouldn't work for mine. I know for sure that 'Aisea would just jump off! LOL

I think it is so funny that Gigi just said 'fanny fryin'. And I hope she really calls me about the zoo. I'm ready.

Also, no, Elizabeth it is not at all what I would try with my kids. I was really just trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.

And I love your new profile shot, by the way.

Also, have you stolen feedjit from mine or Gigi's blog yet? It's the neatest thing I've ever seen. You'll love it.

Ok they can poof their hair up all they want but when they start pegging their pants with the three different colored socks, that is when I would have a problem....And yes, I too would have been laugh my head off at the giraffes, not Joe just me...

For real? A Utah thing? I am born and bred Utah, i dont do my hair like that, and i dont equate that to Utah! You hurt me! LOL

Elizabeth said...

Ok Melanie. Here is the thing! Not everyone in Utah does their hair like that, but very rarely do you ever see people outside of Utah with such big, teased hair. However I will say....there are people here who have fabulous hair also. But all in all....it IS a Utah thing!!

I know that after I scream at Kacey to get out of the street I like to put her on top of the car and drive around town. It gives us both time to simmer down and focus on what's really important- safety.

Melanie, you did have big hair at one time. Remember the big bangs and the side things. I can't remember what they were called (wings?), but you had a typical Utah hairdo back in the day. If I could post a picture on Elizabeth's site, I would. Maybe I'll do it on mine :)

That is hilarious!! Thanks for sharing!

Ok, I did have the big hair. But, that was the 80's. Everyone had big hair. So, did you, and I have seen pics of Kim, and I am sure Elizabeth did! LOL

Okay, I'll try again:

1 - That is horrid to leave your kids on the car. Mine would push each other off or scream their lungs out. Why not just put them IN the car? Duh.

2 - The biggest hair I have seen has been in Utah. That's just the way it is. Most people do have good hair, though.

3 - Peacock lady is a prime example of that. She must have been felt really theme-ish that day!

Loved the post!

Holy comments, Batman!

Why don't you have a picture of the giraffes? Hello! That's the most interesting part! LOL.

I would have blown a gasket if I saw kids on top of a car like that.

Glad I came across your blog.
