Will I ever go back to Georgia???

The day has finally come.  My mom and dad put the house up for sale.  They don't know where they'll go from here, but they are for sure not staying in Georgia.  Mom's job consists of traveling all over the state of Florida, so they have talked about moving more to central Florida so that she doesn't have to travel quite as long to get places.  Dad has applied for jobs all over the country and if he gets one then they will move to where ever that may be.
They also didn't feel the need to stay, with all of their children and grandchildren being gone.  I have told them that I think Ioane would move back to Georgia once his schooling is done, but they are still going to move!!!
It makes me really sad because I grew up in Georgia and have many friends there and I feel like I may never have the chance to go back.  Take a vacation there you say???  The only problem with that is, at this point, when we go on vacation it is always to some place that we can get to see our families.  So needless to say, it makes me sad that they are selling and moving on even though I know it's what they need to do!

I know how you feel--while I was very happy to have my parents move to Utah to be closer to all of us, seeing them sell the only house I ever knew was REALLY hard. I still haven't been back since they moved here in 2004--and that makes me sad! But it is nice having them here, and I think they are enjoying being so close to their grandkids, even though they miss their friends back home.

I feel ya girl!!...We moved from Oregon where I lived from 11-18, so basically grew up there & I havnen't been back for like 9 years--hopefully we will get to go for my 10 Year class reunion this summer.
It's only about a 7 hour drive to the town I grew up in in Oregon, but like you, our vacations are always to see family...which is OK, w/me 'cause I always want to see them the most--But I'm wating for Nase to get on w/the IT department of an airline so we can go on real vacations someday! (probably not happening any time soon.) Anyway--just wanted to offer my empa/sympa-thies ...and you know what--a couple of my friends from Oregon have ended up in Utah--so you never know. :) ;)

My in-laws sold their house on Thursday and drove up to MA on Sunday (from Florida). They're re-establishing themselves and we're feeling a little sad ourselves because Florida had become our second home. Moving, yourself or family members is never, ever easy. Georgia, I've always wanted to go there....

I'm very sad for you! But you do have so much FAMILY in Brunswick that you need to come and visit. You know you always have a place to stay when you come. Don't you call Sue and Phil your adopted parents? and then you have all us cousins here. So come on down!!

Yup!! You know there are plenty of places to stay. I can cram all of my kids into one set of bunkbeds then you and Ioane and the boys can share the other set. Sounds good. Can't wait.

Sorry about your parents moving :(. Our vacations are always about visiting family, too.

Elizabeth, I was in the same boat. It is sad to be so far away from the place I consider home, but I am still in touch with just about everyone and I went back for a visit a couple years ago. It will not be so bad! Don't worry.

Girl, you have more family in GA than anywhere else, so you will find a way to make it back. I won't make you a purse until you do. :)
Love ya!
