Potty Training

My little man is potty training and for the most part IS potty trained as long as we are home. My question is......How do you ever get up the nerve to take them out with underwear on and not a diaper? Any suggestions?? My biggest fear is being in the middle of Wal-Mart and there being a huge yellow puddle at the bottom of my shopping cart!

You just have to make him sit on the potty right before you walk out the door. If you sit there long enough he should empty out. Then, no fluids while you are out. You should be fine. My kids have peed all over the house but have never (knock on wood) had an accident while we were out.

I think that you just need to take him out some public places that you feel comfortable in (maybe a friends house) and see how he does. If he does ok then I don't think that you have any reason to worry about him having accidents in public, and if not then just give him a little more time. Another thing you can do is just ask him a couple of times while you are out if he has to go and remind him that he has big boy pants on.

I know this applies a little later, but I swear by this playskool travel potty that my mom got me! Especially for those hour long trips into town. Lillie lets me know she has to pee, I stop and let her go on the potty. There's a bag liner you just throw away. It's way cleaner than public restrooms too, so sometimes I make her wait until we get to the van!
As for in public, we did pull ups for a while... did those work for anybody else??

Just make sure you get them to go before you leave the house.
Children love public restrooms. Make sure you take them to the restroom
after you get to the store or after you've been there alittle while.
I hate when Noah forgets to use the potty before we leave for school
because then all of a sudden he starts crying that he is going to pee
his pants.
